>>World International  Women’s Day is observed  on March 8th

>> Haryana Chief Minister Manohar  Lal Khattar today launched  a scheme for girl child-‘AAPKI BETI HUMARI BETI’-with the aim to combat the problem of declining child sex ratio in the state.

·         This scheme will be implemented in both rural and urban areas.
SCHEME DETAILS:

Ø  The first girl child born on or after January 22,2015,in SC and BPL families will be eligible to receive Rs 21,000.

Ø  Similarly,all second girl child born on or after January 22,2015 of all families will get Rs 21,000

Ø  Families,where twin girls or multiple girls are born ,will get Rs21,000 per girl child.


>> President Pranab Mukherjee presented the ‘STREE SHAKTI & NARI SHAKTI PURASKARS’  for the year 2015 at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

    The award was given in six categories named after eminent women personalities in the Indian history.
    The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3,00,000 and a citation.

Ø  Rani Gaidinliu Zeliang Award: Sister Mariola (Rajasthan).
Ø  Rani Lakshmibai Award: Seema Prakash (Madhya Pradesh).
Ø   Rani Rudramma Devi Award: Astha Sansthan- NGO (Rajasthan).
Ø  Mata Jijabai Award: Chandraprabha Bokey (Maharashtra).
Ø  Kannagi Award: P. Bhanumati (Kerala).
Ø  Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Award: Anay Rahit Zindagi- NGO (Goa).

>> Carolina Marin Martin of Spain has won the prestigious Women’s Singles Title in the All England Open Badminton Championships 2015.

  •      She defeated India's ace shuttler SAINA NEHWAL in the final.
