>>Tanzania's new President John Magufuli was sworn into office  along with the east African nation's first female vice-president to huge cheers from crowds.


Vice-President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who comes from Zanzibar, was also sworn in at a stadium in the economic capital Dar es Salaam, promising to "always strive to give proper and honest advice" to the president.


>>The 21st International Conference on 'Frontiers in Yoga Research and its Applications' (INCOFYRA) will bring together traditional and modern medical systems.
This was stated by Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare in a curtain-raiser press conference on 21st INCOFYRA, which will be organized by the Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Sansthana from 3rd to 7th January' 2016, at Prashanti Kutiram, Bengaluru.

The conference will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The theme of the conference is 'Yoga in Integrated Healthcare Systems'. Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister for State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and Dr H. R. Nagendra, President of 21st INCOFYRA, President, VYASA and Chancellor, S-VYASA University were also present on this occasion. 
>>The Serbian and Bosnian governments have held their first joint session in Sarajevo.
The two sides are seeking to improve relations more than two decades after the conflict during the break-up of Yugoslavia.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic was quoted as saying that Serbia wished to become Bosnia's largest trading partner.
Both countries aspire to European Union membership.
The joint session was expected to see agreements signed on the protection of cultural heritage, the search for missing persons, environmental protection and telecommunications.
The two sides also discussed infrastructural and energy projects, including a Belgrade-Sarajevo railway, Serbian news agency Tanjug reported.

>>Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale will be felicitated with the prestigious Vishnudas Bhave Award at a ceremony here next month.
Gokhale, 67, who is a noted Marathi theatre actor and has acted in several Hindi films, will be honoured with the award at a function to be held here on November 5, 2015 on eve of ‘Marathi Rangbhumi Din’.

Dr Sharad Karale, president of Akhil Maharashtra Natya Vidya Mandir Samiti, Sangli, made the announcement today.
